Getting into the spirit

So, December is finally here. I've been slowly getting the flat ready for Christmas and getting into the spirit of things. Tomorrow morning I can open the first day in my (chocolate) advent calendar. :D No, you can never get too old for a calendar okay. :| There's still lots of snow outside, which instantly makes me feel like Christmas when I look out the window. I so hope it stays until Christmas... or at least until Friday, as I have a shoot that requires snow.

I really want to take some new pictures. My flashes just stand in the corner of the room and I'm dying to try them out properly. But for some reason this week seems to be the nightmare week from hell. Well, actually it probably has to do with the fact that I have next week off work and then two more weeks around Christmas, so I need to get a lot of work done before that. Sucks. Why is it that taking time off means you just have to do your work in less time. :| I will try my darnest not to think about work during my hols though... I need to empty my head from it.

I've been also having some computer problems. I bought a new HD and whilst putting it in, the socket that keeps the heatsink down broke. The plastic just crumbled completely. So umm.. argh. At the moment I have my old HD in Stu's computer (thanks darling), so I can at least work until I get a new thingy for my computer. I just hate hardware. Every little step forward always requires huge painful leaps backwards first. :| But when it's all sorted and I've got my new HD in and I've installed everything from fresh it should be good. At least it means I don't have to burn pictures on CD's after each shoot to be able to have enough space. And maybe my computer will start being a bit less contemplative as well... Can't wait.

Mmmm I made the bestest Canneloni today. And it was low-fat as well. Absolutely yummy. :P Oh and on Sunday, Stu made the most beautiful Chicken Pie (with my assistance I have to add :P). It was just perfect, quite impressed I was.

Home sweet home

I'm getting too old for this constant travelling I think. :| Mind, I say that about a lot of things. I'd be so ready to retire on a farm in Italy now. :D Just take pictures all day long and sleep and eat and read. Yes.

Heathrow was a nightmare yesterday. Self-service check-in is a blessing... unless you have bags to check in. And a great big box containing a flash kit. So I queued for the ironically named 'fast bag drop' and just when it was my turn they had a shift switch. And I found myself face to face with the woman from hell who obviously hates me. There has been earlier incidents when she's actually shouted at me for no reason what so ever. Oh boy did my heart sink. So, this time she made me repack all my stuff right there on the floor, as my hand luggage was like two kilos too heavy or something. Ugh.

Also, flying was a nightmare as I've just had a cold and my nose was all blocked up to start with. Hence my ears hurt like hell and I still can't hear anything. Just a funny humming sound. Not very nice.

Lots of snow here when I got home, which is actually quite nice. Have some photo ideas involving snow as well. And I got this cheap flashkit from England, so I'll have a lot of experimenting to do, especially when I have a few weeks of holiday. Yay.

The cutest squirrel

Johanna and Olli paid me a quick lunch-time visit today. Olli had grown so much since I've last seen him! And what a smiley and happy little boy he is. Aww. He has such an infectious smile. Can't wait for December and my hols when I'll have more time to see him. Isn't he the cutest little squirrel you've ever seen? :D

Off to England on Wednesday. This will be the last trip for this year. Hurrah. Then I'll have two gorgeous travel-free months ahead of me. Can't wait.

Another friday gone

I got this sudden urge to update the main site last night. I just thought the categories weren't that logical and saying what I wanted to say with the pictures in them. I found out that it's amazingly difficult to come up with names for categories. :| When something's not really a portrait, doesn't really have a concept, isn't really fashion... erm. A proper pain in the ass. Well I'm more or less pleased with the categorisation now. I also added titles to pictures in two sections as I think they do go hand in hand with certain kind of photography. Not sure if I'm going to add titles to still and stree/nature sections... they're quite self explanatory really.

Lots of love and thankyous to Paul again. He's the best webmaster a girl could have. <3

Another huge task I finally finished was compiling a list of inspiring links to photography sites. It took me until 4am to get it done. But at least it's up now and it will be easy to add to it in the future. If you want to look for inspiration from photographers do take a look. Especially if you're into fashion photography. And if you have any cool links, tell me and I'll add them. :)

I can't help but utter the inevitable words... it's friday - again. :| What the bloody hell is up with time. Sorry for sounding like a broken record. Umm. Oh well, at least I got to make pizza again. =P

Getting organised

I've gotten the first xmas pressies wrapped. :) I feel a whole lot more organised. Still a lot of things to get sorted, like finally changing the winter tires today.

I bought the most gorgeous angel wings yesterday. Such an extravagance... but I couldn't resist. Just think of all the pictures I could incorporate them in. Can't wait to shoot some ideas that I have for them. It maybe a cliche, but it's one that I haven't explored yet. So I'm allowed to be excited of the prospect. :P

Finally booked a cruise for the independence day bank holiday weekend. Was getting a bit worried when all I got was 'sold out'. It apparently pays to have a mother who's a Silja Line gold card holder. :D Suddenly there was 'just one' free cabin for the day I wanted... ho hum. Anyways, I'm glad - at least Stu gets a mini break even if he has no holiday what so ever until next spring...

Friday feeling

I can't believe it's friday again. This week was just a blink of an eye - again. At least I did get a lot of things done that I wanted. Apart from changing the winter tyres, as I now need to buy new ones. Ouch. Well, safety before everything I guess... Who was it again that suggested cars are like metal boxes you put money into...

I am starving hungry as I haven't had time to eat anything all day. The minute I'm done writing this I'll start making a base for a pizza I think. :D

In fact I think I'll stop writing now, as otherwise I'll starve to death (possibly).

Vroom vroom

Well, it has been an eventful day in the world of driving again. I am somewhat surprised, yet pleased, that I'm still alive and that I didn't even crash a little. :D God knows there were opportunities for both. I still find driving a bit (understatement of the year) nervewracking (after not doing it at all for 6 year) and I have great trouble finding my way around it seems. At least when I'm driving - obviously I'm a great navigator when I'm not behind the wheel myself. :| What started out as a simple trip to the police station, to get my new passport, turned into an hour long expedition, when I decided to be clever and drive home 'the other way'. Obviously I had no idea where the other way would lead to and managed to get horribly lost. Ho hum. I'm hoping I'll get the hang of it eventually, if I don't get myself killed before that...

We were supposed to go to the cinema at the weekend but we forgot. :|
