9 years and counting…

I have a feeling someone’s going to kill me for this, but you’re allowed to be mushy at specific times of year! We’re not ‘officially’ celebrating 1 September any more since the wedding, as apparently wedding anniversaries are the only ‘proper’ anniversaries. :P But never the less, today still means something to me, and I can at least celebrate our 9th anniversary of being together with this mush-fest of pictures. :D If nothing else, looking at it brings back good memories (while also making me feel incredibly old, like where an earth did 9 years disappear??). Also, check out that fringe. WTF. :D

(Sorry S, I know it must be a pain to be married to an overly sentimental photographer!)

Ah what a difference a haircut can make!

Finally new hair

*PHEW*. Finally have nice new hair. Possibly not the cheapest option to come for a haircut in Finland but well worth it! And there you can see my hairdresser Jonna in action as well.

Colour me sensible

The holiday so far has been rather uneventful, which isn’t such a bad quality for a holiday I suppose. I have managed to sort my taxes out and Stu has managed to have a nervous breakdown with the car business, which is still not sorted. Looks like it’ll happen next week. Which means we do have a car for now then, and can go to Rayleigh for Easter Sunday.

The bits for my new computer were supposed to come today but that got delayed as they couldn’t find the motherboard in the warehouse. After switching the motherboard to a different model the computer should be arriving tomorrow. Hopefully that’ll happen early in the day so the whole day won’t be wasted.

Other than that we have also managed to laze around on the sofa a little bit as well, after all that is something we are both quite talented at.

To kill the time, while waiting for the computer that didn’t come, I dyed my hair today. The very expensive colour (courtesy of Toni&Guy;) had faded quite horribly in just a month and a bit, especially the orangey bits looked awful, so I had to do something about it. And since finding a decent hairdresser seems like a challenge in itself I decided to go back to ‘plain’ brown to at least forgo the task of finding a colourist as well. I originally wanted it a bit darker than it turned out, but all the blond bits meant that there are lighter/redder areas in there which takes away from the darkness of the brown. The colour that I used was L’oreal Feria Colour 3D in Espresso. It’s been ages since I’ve coloured my hair myself, I forgot what a messy job it is! :O

Now I’ll just have to wait for the hair to grow a bit so I can have it ‘connected’ back at the back. It’s a bit of a case of business in front, party at the back for the moment.

Hyvää Syntymäpäivää Äitille! :D

Snip snip

I finally took the plunge today and went to get my hair done for the first time since leaving Finland. It’s such a traumatic experience when ever you have to leave your trusted hairdresser behind… Well, I do like the colours I got, even though I’m not so keen on the cut, especially at the back (“I’ll just disconnect it, it’s much more now“. *SNIP SNIP*. “You wha…??“). I must say that for the most expensive haircut I’ve ever had I’m not 100% satisfied. I think I’ll still have to keep on looking…

Loving the orange! Mmmm yummeh colour.

By bye hair – finally

I remembered that I’d booked a hairdresser’s appointment at the last minute this morning. Which was a bit strange considering that I’ve been waiting for my hairdresser to come back from her hols since the wedding so I could get rid of the hair. But anyways. I wasn’t feeling so good so I just gave her the freedom to do pretty much what ever she wanted, just as long as there was considerably less hair left on my head in the end. :D

I’m still getting used to it being so short again, it feels VERY strange but also very liberating. Can’t wait to wash it for the first time, I bet that’s going take substantially less time that before. I gotta go in again after I come back from London to get my roots done (and possibly put more colour/s in) as she didn’t have enough time today.

Whirlwind

It’s been a whirlwind of a couple of weeks! Haven’t had any time to write anything earlier, nor do I have much time right now either. The wedding went ok; we remembered to say ‘I do’ in the right bits and people seemed to enjoy the party (and the punch). It was lovely to see some people I haven’t seen for a long time, like my brothers, again. I’ll tell you all about it later.

Nikki and Ian are still here (the rest of the English contingent left on Sunday), and tonight we’re going out to celebrate my birthday, as this is their last night in Finland.

Tada!

Well, the hairdresser refused to cut it much shorter as apparently I’ll need the length for any bridal do. But at least the colour makes up for it! Loving having lively colours in my hair again. It feels so much more me. I suppose I can even try to live with the length for another month now… :)

And also, as promised, midsummer pictures. Enjoy! I’m missing it all already. *sigh*

Chop time

I’m just about to leave for the hairdresser’s. Finally! I’m well and truly sick of my hair at the moment, it’s awful. The length, the cut (what cut), the colour – everything’s just blah. The thing is, I’ve been trying to grow it for the wedding in order to have some options for up-do’s and such. But now, three weeks before, I’ve just had enough! :P Hmm. We’ll see… even if I feel like chopping it all of right now, just some new fresh colour might help as well and maybe enable me to put up with the length until after the wedding… Anyways, here’s how it’s grown.

I’ll show you the results when I get back.

We got back home from Miikka’s cottage last night. Midsummer was lovely. Hot, sunny and relaxing. I really didn’t want to return to the city. I’ll get some pictures off my camera and show you when I have some time.

Zach love and comedy hair

Man, I sure hope that was the last one of the ‘fast for 12 hours, get poked by needles at ridiculous time in the morning, walk back freezing and dizzy’-routines for a while. I don’t think I have much blood in me to take anymore. :D

Anyways, on to other subjects. Zach Braff, don’t you just love him. If you don’t, you should. Never mind the fact that he’s very talented and funny and down to earth and really connects with his fans on a level that most celebrities don’t, I mostly like him for his impeccable taste in music! I’ve found so many new artists through his blog, artists like Joshua Radin and Alexi Murdoch to mention a few. And every time I’ve discovered a new favourite through some other means – like Rachael Yamagata, whom I found via Amazon back when I didn’t know of last.fm and was still using Amazon for that sort of thing – the next thing I know Zach is already practically bezzie mates with them. :D It’s mad. He did such a great job with the Garden State Soundtrack and now he’s been responsible for the Last Kiss Soundtrack, which is just bursting at the seams with wonderful artists, like Imogen Heap. He did this live show for Indie 103.1 with sets from a bunch of cool people and you can watch them here. And it just had to be Zach who got Remy Zero back together on the same stage! How fricken amazing is that. So yeah, you should really worship Zach as the king of cool that he is.

One morning when I woke up at 5am for some reason I stumbled on this site called The Hair Styler, and damnit, it’s only ever so slightly addictive! I have to take a better mugshot from straight ahead as some of the styles look very strange on my wonky head and with the shorter ones my own hair shows from underneath. When I get around to updating the pic I will show you some more hilarious hairstyles. :D

Actually hoping for rain (!) + shorter hair

I’ve finally got new hair. :D Whee. You can see the colour better here. It’s not short short but definitely a lot shorter, which is lovely in this heat. My god the hairdresser’s was an endurance test though, their air conditioning was broken and sitting under a plastic cape on a plastic chair for two hours was NOT fun. :|

When I came back from the UK I thought it was so pleasantly cool here… not anymore. It’s been +30C since last friday, and especially the nights are so uncomfortable that I don’t quite know what to do with myself. The air feels so thick and immobile it’s really horrible. The forecast keeps on promising rain but every day that gets pushed a day forward. :| Currently it’s showing rain for friday… which is when we’re driving to Tampere to the Suzanne Vega concert… Oh well, I don’t even mind, just as the rain does come at some point. Thankyouplease.

Yay for Italy. I hope there’s a party going on still when we get there in exactly a week. :D I so should have put money on them. Oh well. What about that Zidane though. :| Such a stupid way to end a career.

Seriously…

I so need a haircut. :| There is nothing ‘lovely’ about it Susie. :P

New hair + new phone

Well, I did indeed finally go to the hairdresser today and the results look something like this.

Lots of stripy things and stuff. But I can’t wait until I can actually style it myself. Have to wait for two days before washing after it’s been dyed. Humph. Hairdressers always style hair in a ‘flat’ way (even if it just looks plain messy in the pictures. Hmm.). I want BIG hair. :D

In other news, my mobile phone broke over the weekend. Well as in it still works other than I can’t hear anything the other person says. Which in some cases is an added bonus, but after a few days it gets a bit boring. Today I finally got tired of answering the phone and going ‘I can’t actually hear you so I can’t help you’, and after a very unsuccessful consultation with the insurance company (129e excess!!) I went and bought a new phone myself. It’s a bit weird. And someone will be pleased to see it’s a clam type thing. Although I don’t really like the flippety flip action. Hopefully I’ll get used to it. Anyways, it was the only one (Nokia that is :P) which had both a camera and a radio in my price range.

(And yes, I’m hoping my iPod sock will instantly make the phone look cooler. :P Or does it work in reverse… :| )

What should I do now?

So I’ve been pricing up old crap (that I’m gonna sell at the flea market next week) most of the night. And organised stuff in the office. Then I read some and saw a friend’s flat in an interior magazine. And when I was finished with that, I tidied up the office a bit more. Ohh the joy of lovely neat rows of folders and things. <3 And then I decided to try out my webcam as I moved it on the other side of the monitor (how exciting). So there I am, right now. Not that anyone's gonna read this right now but that’s your loss. :P It’s a plastic cover for a usb connector in my mouth by the way (jealous much S?). Anyways, the point of the matter is that… well that it’s 3am and I don’t feel like sleeping at all. I’m feeling strangely hyper and keep on contemplating about tidying up something else. Hmm.

I think I mentioned it before (a couple of million times) but I’m getting truly fed up with winter now. Not that I go out that much, but it’s depressing that I don’t even want to. Bleugh.

Need a haircut quite badly.

Shit. I really thought I’d have something to write about. Never mind.

New hair

Yay I’ve got a new haircut + colour, feel like a normal person again. :D

Off to England tomorrow. First for a week of work, then a week of holiday.

Friday, 1 October 2004

See, I’ve got a new haircut! I can’t remember the last time my hair was this short. And also, for someone who’s as obsessed with symmetry as I am, it’s a bit radical. :D I’m torn between loving it and having a horrible urge to move that wispy top bit to the side so it would be more even. I will resist. I do really like it. *nod*

The only downside about going to the hairdressers was that after they washed my hair, they put this chocolate treatment in it, which smelled soo yummy. And I went straight to the shop to buy chocolate afterwards. :| Well, it’s friday after all isn’t it…
