Long summer nights
After Rebecca & Andi’s wedding in Cornwall we stayed behind for a few days of holiday, in order to soak up some (sparse) sunshine and to get our fill of sea air, before returning to London. Our apartment had amazing views, and it was so much fun to watch Susanna fall in love with the place, as somehow she had never managed to visit before! Below is a collection of snaps, mostly from the Holga, which will be my living memory of this trip.

Tap, tap, tap… is this thing on?
Will you look at this, it’s a genuine new blog entry. I bet you’re as flabbergasted as I am. Yes, talk about being busy! When ever I’ve said I’ve been busy in the past, I take that all back. This year has taught me the true meaning of being busy, in good and in bad, and it has made me ponder about the origins of the word business. :D The business has indeed taken off at a rate I couldn’t have dreamed of last year when I made the decision to start charging for my photography. It’s all happened so organically, intuitively, that sometimes I have to force myself to stop and really take in how fast it’s all happening. I feel extremely lucky, not in a stroke-of-luck kind of way, but in a way that makes me appreciate the fact that I possess a skill that people are willing to pay for – and if I work hard – has the potential of changing my life.
But for now, I just have to make sure it doesn’t kill me first. While I still have my full time day job as well, there just is no extra time for anything. Every waking hour is pretty much about work in some form, even if the photography side of things doesn’t really feel like work (but trust me, all the nitty gritty of running a business sure does). For now I’m just trying to keep my head down and plough on. If I get through this year in one piece, it will all be worth it in the end I hope. I have some amazing clients (now this does have something to do with genuine luck as well) and weddings in beautiful locations coming up next year. I really can’t wait. That goes for each and every one of them.
In other news, Miikka finally got married last Saturday, and even if it meant travelling all the way up to Juuka, of course we were there. We treated the (8 hours each way) drive as a road trip, as that was pretty much all the ‘holiday’ we’ll get this year. The weather was perfect and Finland was definitely showing its best. The only minus side of being on the road for most of the 4 days we spent in Finland was not having any time to meet up with other friends and family. You can look out for pictures of the wedding over at the wedding photography blog, but for now, here is a quick collection of snaps from along the way of our road trip.

Happy bokeh Wednesday!

How can it be press week again?? Time is a perplexing thing. So far this week has been super knackering for a lot of reasons, keeping my fingers crossed I’ll make it through to the other side. It’s Bank Holiday weekend coming up, and I only have one engagement shoot so should hopefully have some time to just chill as well. Having multiple blogs is getting slightly confusing and I’m not quite sure what I’ve told where. But yeah, if in doubt, you can always check out the other blog as well. :P
But now I’ve got to go tidy as, unusually, I have a consultation at home tomorrow evening. (Meeting at a pub involves a lot less cleaning! :D)

Sock it to me

I just had to show you these amazing wool socks, made by my mum’s friend Kati, and given to us as an Easter present. She’s been keeping us in wool socks for years now, and I’m not quite sure how my usually frozen feet would have ever survived the English ‘central heating’ without her. Thank you so much Kati, you are teh awesomes! :D

Sparse souvenirs

These are the only three craptastic pictures I took with my point-and-shoot whilst in Finland.

Mum’s peach pie. Was pretty damn yummy.

Glittering cloud
To write something would mean moaning about the reasons I haven’t had time to write, which would make for a futile blog entry with very little in the way of entertainment. I don’t suppose this is exactly the kind of place people come looking for entertainment but still…
It’ll suffice to say that life’s been super busy. It’s good and exciting and scary and big all at the same time, and I’m not quite sure how long I can go on at this pace until bits of me start falling off. Looking forward to next weekend and my mini-mini Finland break, which will consist of a trip to the hairdressers, sauna, sleep, sauna and some more sleep.
At least the sun has come back home from where ever it spent the winter.
