05:10am Wake up. Ugh. After a pretty sleepless night as well.
05:43am Almost miss my buss. Wave frantically and the driver stops to wait, what an angel. It’s pitch black I might add.
06:10am Check-in. The airport is unusually quiet. Summer must be well and truly over.
06:30am Passport control. My passport is apparently falling apart and I’m almost turned away. I plead that I must go, and the woman let’s me go, but tells me I might be turned away at the UK end because of a croddy passport. Great.
07:15am Boarding. I feel so very tired. Sit next to a very nervous and fidgety lady.
07:45am Take off. Most of the flight I spend reading Vernon God Little by DBC Pierre. It’s quite funny really.
11:15am Because of some nasty head wind we land behind schedule.
09:25am I step into the time warp that is England and the clock moves back two hours.
09:40am I get through the passport control. Yay.
10.02am Heathrow Xpress to Paddington. Sitting on the train is always the bit where I switch to ‘being in England’.
10:20am As it’s so late, I decide to take a cab, and consequently spend the next 20 minutes in a taxi queue. Clever thinking.
10:55am Finally arrive at work. I am soo hungry but only got water. Everyone bounces on me at once, demanding things. I start sorting out the pile of work on my desk. *sigh*
11:53am I get to fill in weird yellow expense forms to finally get money back from my new fax machine. Fingers crossed.
12:13pm Losing my mind. The Editor is in her manic mode again and talks faster than my brain can comprehend. She also just nicked all the pages I was working on. Umm.
12:35pm Needed to put more paper in the printer and reaching for it got stuck between the printer and Matt’s monitor. It’s not funny k.
13:03pm Filling in holiday forms. I’m having three weeks off in December. Happy happy joy joy. 😀
13:30pm Off to get lunch. Finally!
14:00pm It started raining exactly the moment I stepped out. Furiously. But still… I got a tuna and cucumber baguette from Pret. Mmmm. I so needed that.
14:13pm Eating made me feel seriously tired. I feel like crawling under the desk to sleep, but I think people might take it the wrong way.
14:45pm Oh my god, I don’t know how I’ll be able to stay awake for another two hours. My eyes try to close on me all the time. And there’s an endless amount of work coming in.
15:35pm Charts. I hate charts. And negative scanners that only scan in black. What’s that about??
16:10pm Just finished laying out two last minute features. Gah. Everyone’s talking at the same time and my head is buzzing. I think I’ll sit here staring at the monitor for a bit. And then get away from here. Please.
